WHO IS YOUR GAIUS?
Every great destiny needs a "Gaius" for it's manifestation. I'm yet to see anyone who is excelling in a particular field without a "Gaius" in his or her life.
A "Gaius" in this case is a mentor, a coach, a builder, a shaper of destiny.
You've probably watched the classic movie Merlin. In the season one episode one, the mother of Merlin realized that her Son was destined for greatness. So she had to take him from his environment to another environment where he can be mentored properly for his destiny to be actualized. So she sent him to Gaius. Gaius received Merlin and discovered about him that though he's so much gifted but he uses his gift very foolishly; something that could lead to his death. Gaius then begun to shape Merlin, helped him to discover the purpose of his giftings and how to use his gift wisely. Gaius finally gave Merlin a book with seals that contains all the secrets on how to use his gift purposefully and effectively. Imagine with me what would have happened to Merlin if he hadn't gotten the opportunity to sit under the tutelage of Gaius. Even though he had a great destiny waiting for its manifestation, but it would have never come true
You've probably read or heard about the biblical story of Samuel too ( 1 Sam 3:1-11). Samuel just like Merlin, was sent to the Priest Eli by his mother. One day as Samuel was lying down, he heard a voice calling him, he runs to Eli to ask whether he called him. Eli tells him he isn't the one who called him. So Samuel goes back to lay down again. The voice called again and Samuel run to Eli like before. Eli sends Samuel back to lay down. The voice calls again, Samuel runs to Eli and Eli tells Samuel this time round what to say when the voice calls again. The Lord was calling Samuel to reveal to him his destiny. If Samuel didn't have Eli in his life, he would have been running everywhere to ask who's calling him. Samuel was able to respond to the call of God because he had Eli who taught him.
Every Merlin needs a Gaius
Every Samuel needs an Eli
Every Elisha needs an Elijah
Every Joshua needs a Moses
Who do you also need to become who you were created to be? It is very true that you are destined for greatness but who is that Gaius to teach, coach or mentor you in the way you should go?
Mentorship is one of the powerful ways to rise higher in life. The mentor has the ability to nurse and nurture the mentee in a way and manner that he or she can produce notable results within a period of time. It is like a farmer who plants a seed, water it, remove every weed around it and protects it from pests and parasites that may destroy the destiny of the seed. After a given period of time, the seed grows into a seedling, grows again to become a matured tree and finally bears fruits. As tiny as the seed may appear, it has the ability to grow into a matured tree and bear fruits but it can only do that under the proper nursery of the farmer. Trapped inside every mentee is the potential to be great. But that potential can only be actualized under correct tutelage of a mentor.
"While it is wise to learn from experience, it is wiser to learn from the experiences of others. There isn’t enough time to learn everything in life by trial and error” – Pastor Rick Warren. Napoleon Hill also said "one of the most valuable things any man can learn is the art of using the knowledge and experience of others”.
You can't be learning everything in life by trial and error. There are some errors that will never give you a second chance. And our lifetime is too short for trial and error. It is therefore necessary to leverage on other people’s experiences. Experience is the best teacher but it shouldn't always be your experience. You can glean wisdom from the experience of coaches, mentors and teachers to guide you into your colorful destiny.
