THE LAW OF ASSOCIATION.

One of the easiest way to rise or plateau in destiny is through associations. And one of the things that define us is the kind of people we have within our circle of influence. You've probably heard the saying that "you're the average of the five people you spend the most time with". Your circle of influence defines how your life is and going to be. There is no way you will be surrounded by people with a corrupted mindset and ideology and expect your life to be different from theirs. It is against the principle of induction. In magnetism, there is a principle by which a magnetic material can be made into a magnet and that is by attaching the magnetic material to a magnet. Even though the magnetic material isn't a magnet but it can act as a magnet by reason of it being attached to the magnet. The magnet induces its magnetic properties into it which makes it behave exactly as a magnet. This same principle also works in our association with others. The kind of people you associate yourself with will always induce their ideologies and mindset into you. It is therefore needful to choose wisely your associations.

In the Bible, when God called Abraham out of his father’s house, Lot his nephew went with him. Lot became blessed by reason of his association with Abraham. After Lot departed from Abraham, everything turned upside down. The next time we heard about him was when Sodom and Gomorrah were about to be destroyed . Laban too was blessed because of the presence of Jacob in his home (Gen 30:27). The house of Potiphar was blessed because of the presence of Joseph in the house ( Gen 39:5). When King Saul was in the midst of a group of Prophets prophesying, he started prophesying too (1Sam 10:10-12). The presence of Jonah in a ship also caused the merchants a great loss. (Jonah 1)

It is clearly seen that your circle of influence has an inductive effective on your destiny. It is said that a mirror reflects the face of a man but what he truly is, is reflected by the kind of friends he keeps. If you keep a bad company, you will have a bad life. If you keep a good company on the other hand, you will have a good life. Just as the Bible says in the book of Proverbs that "He that walk with the wise shall be wise but a companion of fools shall be destroyed". 

During the surge of COVID 19, one of the advices medical practitioners gave in order not to get infected was social distancing. This was because once you associate yourself with or come into contact with an infected person, chances are you will also get infected. So to safeguard yourself, you had to distance yourself from people. Social distancing is not meant for communicable diseases only but also for bad associations. Bad associations have  communicable mindsets and ideologies that can derail your destiny.

As a farmer, I watch with shock how good seeds are not able to grow in the midst of weeds. You might probably think that so long as there's a good seed, it should be able to grow to bear much fruits but it doesn't happen. The environment the good seed finds itself doesn't make it possible for it to manifest its destiny. The weeds choke the good seed, prevents it from growing and not to even talk about it bearing fruits. You may similarly have good intentions for your life and destiny but these intentions can only be actualized within the right associations.

 The word "FELLOWSHIP" is actually two words combined. Fellows-in-a-ship. Fellows in a ship are always heading towards the same destination. You should by no means have any fellowship or association with people who do not have a similar vision like yours. And if by any means you find anyone who isn't heading towards the same destination you're heading to, you should unapologetically throw the person off your ship like the merchants did to Jonah before he/she wrecks your destiny.
